SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION
Scalp Micropigmentation
What is it?
Scalp Micropigmentation is the process of using a needle machine to create hyper-realistic hair follicles that mimic real follicles. It can be done by either adding density and keeping existing hair or by filling in a shaved head.
Am I a candidate or why would I want this done?
You are a candidate if you are a male or female with hair loss and you are looking to feel more like yourself. This includes anything from camouflaging a tiny bald spot to creating an entire head of hair for an alopecia client. You may be a female that wants to wear their hair down or up in a ponytail more comfortably. Maybe your hairline or part have been thinning and making you feel insecure in social settings. You may be a male that has had a hair transplant and you want the scarred area to better blend with the rest of your hair. A large majority of our clients are simply men with traditional male pattern baldness. Or, even men and women that never saw their hair return after chemotherapy. Whatever the situation, we can bring back a more confident you.

You are not a candidate if you have had previous scalp micropigmentation that needs to be removed by laser first. Also, we can not treat you if you have had chemotherapy or used steroids in the last year.
What does the procedure involve?
Every procedure is always proceeded by a virtual/in person consultation in which the client's desired hair treatment is discussed along with any applicable medical information. Prior to their first session, he/she will read and fill out all the necessary pre-procedure e-forms. Then, the initial session will first involve reviewing the client's forms, answering any questions, managing expectations, and reviewing the steps of the procedure.
After that, if needed for males, their hair will be trimmed down. Next the client's head will be cleaned and mapped at the hairline with a white pencil for them to see and make any adjustments before tattooing. For men, the hairline specifically is designed together. This includes discussing the shape as well as the desired aesthetic which includes a clean barbershop edge, a soft edge, or a blurry edge. It also includes signature touches such as a fade or more textured follicles mimicking slight growth. This is popular in more melanin rich skin. For women, the hairline is designed as closely to the existing hair line to stay as natural as possible but can completely fill in the temples, narrow a part, or cover a undesirable cowlick.
Density clients are filled in so that there is far less white showing on their scalp. The SMP follicle technique is still utilized so there is still less than a millimeter in between follicles. It is far superior to messy sprays that transfer on to clothes and completely paint over the scalp.
Next, the person's skin tone will be analyzed and the pigment will be chosen to mimic the color of their hair follicle and not the shaft of the hair. This is a carbon black or carbon brown that only varies slightly by skin tone so that the pigment stays the exact same color from application forward. These high end charcoal based pigments do not turn blue or cool over time.
Additionally, the process is entirely custom. Varying needles of different diameters are used on different parts of the scalp to create a 3D hyper-realistic hair follicle. When the tattooing begins, this could last up to 5 hours depending on the size of the area of the head being tattooed. Finally, he/she will be cleaned up and presented aftercare instructions to go over. Following this, the client will come back for 2 additional sessions, spaced 2-6 weeks apart. This includes a second session to add layering and depth, and a potential third/fourth session for detail/touchup. The follow-up sessions are extremely important as the quality of the result is based on a layering and texturized technique.
Nano Brow Machine Hairstrokes
What is it?
It is very different than microblading as Nano uses a needle, not a blade, to implant pigment into the brow area in natural hair like strokes. Because of the gentler nature of the needle, unlike microblading, it does not scar the skin or cause blurring over time. For this reason, nano also lasts longer and retains its shape and color better. It is also good for all skin types, including mature, melanin rich, and oily skin, whereas microblading only works for a very specific skin type.

Am I a candidate or why would I want this procedure done?
You are a candidate as long as you are a man or woman that has not had previous work done that cannot be fixed without removal. Most of our clients are those that do not like the shape or density of their brow and are looking for subtle improvement. You are not a candidate if you have had laser removal less than 6 months ago or if you you have had chemotherapy within the last year.

What does the procedure involve?
Every procedure is always proceeded by a virtual/in person consultation in which the client's desired brow is discussed along with any applicable medical information. Prior to their first session, he/she will read and fill out all the necessary pre-procedure e-forms. Then, the initial session will first involve reviewing the client's forms, answering any questions, managing expectations, and reviewing the steps of the procedure.
After that, the clients brows will be cleaned and mapped into the discussed shape and thickness. After that, he/she can review and make any necessary adjustments before tattooing. Next, the pigment will be chosen and hair strokes will be pre-drawn. Fourth, the first tattoo pass will be completed following the mapped hair strokes. After the first pass on both brows is complete, a numbing agent will be applied and more passes will be made to complete the brow. Note, the numbing agent is made after the first pass because, the pigment retains better this way. Lastly, the client will be cleaned up and presented aftercare instructions to go over. Healing details will be reviewed and any questions will be answered. The total session can take up to 5 hours and the client is to return 6 weeks later for a touch-up.
